Mel is a commercially astute and strategic senior executive with over 30 years experience in the field of human resources. The majority of this experience (over 24 years) has been within the financial services sector, including 10 years as Head of Human Resources for two large international businesses. Latterly Mel spent 3 years as Chief Operating Officer for a small international brokerage business as part of Kleinwort Benson Bank Limited. 
Mel is a highly regarded, talented and pragmatic leader as well as a trusted advisor to senior management. Mel has substantial expertise in the full range of HR specialisations as well as in starting and running a small international business.

Mel has a proven track record of directing, managing and delivering strategic organisational change on an international scale, including business start ups and ramp ups, mergers, re-structuring and outsourcing (involving all aspects of TUPE) as well as successfully running efficient and effective "business as usual" operations, and directing large scale projects. 
Mel has undertaken a variety of roles within human resources from HR generalist/business partner for a variety of client groups, Head of Learning and Development, Global Head of Compensation and Benefits and HR Director. 
Previous work experience has spanned manufacturing, local government, the oil & gas industry and financial services. 
Most recently, Mel was part of a management team that set up a fixed income brokerage business within Kleinwort Benson, where he was Chief Operating Officer for that business. 
After 30 years of HR and business experience I am now running my own human resources and business consultancy, Sherington Consulting Limited which is based near Milton Keynes. 
Recent clients include a hospice, a brewery, a charity, a land surveying and planning consultancy, a specialist public services consultancy, a road haulage company, a HR consultancy and a financial services brokerage house.  
I am an experienced exceutive career transition and outplacement coach with Penna as well as supporting individual clients. 
Other assignments have included a major retailer, a NHS Trust and large international technology companies. 
My qualifications include a BA (hons) in business studies and a Masters Degree in Human Resources Management. I have been a fully qualified chartered member of the CIPD since 1986 and passed the Strategic Management Programme at Ashridge in 1998.
